My Current Fantasy Powder Room

I saw this gorgeous inlaid bone mirror on Wisteria the other day and was immediately inspired to find a use for it in a fantasy powder room.  What came from it was this scheme- a little moody, but clean ad sleek too.  I'd paper all the walls in charcoal Imperial Trellis, paint the ceiling in Ralph Lauren's Regent Metallic paint in Silver Plated, hang my favorite Mini George chandelier and anchor it with Waterfall Bath's Louis Vanity in grey accessorized with Michael Smith for Kallista's drop-dead glass knob faucet.

It's inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow's bathroom in the Hamptons. *Swoon*

Who Needs a Prenup When You Have This Bathroom?

After a couple years sharing a small bathroom, one thing Andrew and I really enjoy about our new place is two full bathrooms. Equally nice, we each took one- but sometimes I wish we just had one big one with separate spaces in it so we can chit chat while getting ready. Traditional Home's Robert Young solved that problem at the 2007 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show with this his and hers bathroom. If you can tear your eyes away from the Erin Adams tile mural, you'll see that off the main bathing space are two smaller spaces, each designated and designed for a man and woman. I love how they relate but each give such a different feel.

I love how the "x" detail of the transom windows is reflected in the cabinetry in the woman's bath

Love the framed chinoiserie paper on the opposite wall of the mural, leading into the man's bath

Oh yeah, Andrew would dig this. What man wouldn't?

So while perusing Velvet & Linen last night I came across another pair of baths in one of Brooke Gianetti's projects- each with a distinct chromosome-specific feel.
This man's bath really feels "Ralph Lauren-y" to me, with it's grey flannel walls and drapery.

Another bath in the same house with a more feminine feel...LOVE those freestanding tubs!

In this same house (hi, can I please live here?) she created yet another perfect man space in the basement- a lovely den (not TOO manly at all) with a very cool bar... I would never see Andrew again, especially if there was a pool/foosball table down there.

But it's ok, b/c I'd be soaking with a glass (i.e. bottle) of wine in a bathroom like Brooke's own (*sigh*)- overlooking trees and feeling a breeze through the plethora of windows....

Tile Obsession

Can we please discuss the mind-blowing gorgeousness of this Moroccan window shaped glass tile Edgewater just e-mailed me?
I mean, it's like not even FAIR to all the other tiles of the world- they must all feel so bummed when this tile walks in the room lookin' THIS good.

Filed away for a kitchen back splash paired with Carerra marble countertops and grey cabinetry with sleek nickel hardware!!!!

Found It! Short Tub from "The Holiday"

In searching high and low for another version (i.e. cheaper) of Waterworks' Candide bathtub I came across The Albion Bath Co. in England. They have some of the most gorgeous bathtubs I've ever seen, including the adorable short tub with burnished pewter exterior as seen in my favorite visual candy movie "The Holiday"!!! It's called "The Tubby" and I love it!!!

Industrial Chic

I saw these two vintage metal cabinets on Found Objects of Industry and immediately thought how great they would look in a grand bathroom filled with white fluffy towels and jars of bath soaps and the like. Putting an industrial, vintage looking piece in an otherwise new, sleek bathroom is such a great way to add interest (and storage at the same time). Other great finds from the site:

The following plumbing fixtures are virtual gifts to Erika, since I know how much she loves some good ol' antique plumbing!
