Madline Weinrib on One King's Lane!

Hi! While Erin's off living the good life in Paris, I'll be filling in today and tomorrow. I met Erin through the article I wrote for the Boston Globe about her fabulous home and style. Most of you probably saw my follow up post about Erin's house on my blog, Style Carrot. I'll make today's post quick - I'm off to Brimfield in 15 minutes. (If you're planning on going this week, check out my list of top 10 vendors, as identified by Jill Goldberg from Hudson.) Tomorrow I'll share my newest finds. But first....

One Kings Lane is having a Madeline Weinrib sale today!!! I love, love, love her rugs and pillows, and am hoping there is some gorgeous piece I can snag for a super bargain. It starts at 11am (of course, I'll surely be driving then; perhaps my car mate will do some fancy iphone buying for me). If you are reading this blog, I am guessing you are well acquainted with this granddaughter of ABC Carpet & Home founder. But just to get you excited, here is an array of my personal favorites. Happy shopping, and please, leave something for me!

I want to take this opportunity to welcome Fabricadabra to Eof S's advertiser family! Donna and I go way back, before her pillows were gracing the pages of Real Simple and Martha Stewart Living. I have a pair of her grey polka dot ikat pillows on my bed and I love them to death. So here is your chance (just for being super special E of S readers) to get 10% off your order by using the code FAB02!

Donna has also partnered with furniture designer Emily Kroll to launch Ekla Home, a completely eco-friendly, non-toxic line of custom furniture!

Good Karma

This time of year is always tough in New England- cold, dreary and springtime is SO far away! Compound that with the dismal economy and you've got one hell of a case of the blues. We all need bright, happy things to lift our spirits and I think these goods from Karma Living do just the trick (plus they remind me again of Darjeeling Limited from yesterday's post!). I saw these stunning gold embroidered ottomans (above) at one of my FAVORITE new Boston stores Portobello Road (go if you can- amazing clothes AND home goods). I looked up the company and found all these bright, wonderful Indian inspired goods, perfect to add some color to your space.

Fresh Fabrics Cheap!

I have this odd obsession with throw pillows. I constantly want new ones and am craving some that no one else has. They can completely change the look of a room without spending tons of cash on new furniture. I am loving Amy Butler's fabric line for this use. She makes wonderful printed cotton fabrics reminiscent of Inhabit/Thomas Paul/Dwell but for about $10 a yard! At 2 yards a pillow, you could whip up custom throws for next to nothing! Add a complementary solid colored flange or trim and you've got some pretty snazzy accent pieces! Life is good...

You can buy Amy's fabrics on several sites including Purl Soho and Fabric.com!

Because I am addicted to Throw Pillows...

If I could, I would change my throw pillow covers every 6 weeks. I always fall in love with new ones, and the way they can dramatically change the mood of a living room is amazing. One way to get unique throw pillows is to turn vintage scarves into pillow covers. I like to use a solid colored velvet, microsuede or heavy linen to create the back. You could even sew them yourself if you were feeling super crafty. I found these on a great vintage site Posh Vintage (while you are there, take a look at their fantastic collection of vintage dresses!)

Support a Student

After seeing a group of such bright, young students have their lives cut violently short this week, I wanted to post something supportive and positive for those in the college community. The Savannah College of Art and Design is a wonderful insitution brimming with the design world's next stars. They have set up a e-shop for the students to sell their crafts, from paintings to pillows and handmade candles. It is a energizing site full of unique, beautiful works of art of all kinds. I particularly like the Working Class Studio pieces.

And as a former art student, I can imagine the thrill these kids get when they see their hard work purchased by someone far, far away to display proudly in their home.

I wish everyone a peaceful, happy day.
