A reader commented on Friday about the Frye boots I posted and was thinking of buying. She said there was a pair at Target that were identical and more comfortable and super cheap. Well, this morning I was early for an appointment nearby Nordstroms and went in fully intending buy me some Frye's for fall. But they were really clunky. And really not comfortable. And really $275.00.
So I swung by the Target nearby and FREAKED when I saw their knockoffs. The leather seems nicer, the fit a bit less clunky and the price- $49.99. To boot, (pun intended) they are wicked comfy. I know because they are on my feet right now. :)
Which one is which? I'm not telling!
On My Feet (for 1/5 of the price).

off to target ... like NOW! :-) thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for the tip - I am stopping by Target on my way home from work! I LOVE all of your fashion round ups!
You're awesome- thanks for sharing! LOVE Target.
Wow amazing find....I am dying for a pair of Frye's...saving for the real thing.
shoot! they are sold out online and i called ahead to my stores and are out of my size!!! I wonder if they will restock?
Got to love Target. We are targetto fashionistas in our house.
BTW. We were on the look out for a size 7.5 but our local store only had an 8.
They are great.
You are lucky you found your size, I've been searching every Target in the area and they have none in my size :(
I got the last pair of 8's in Framingham!
I really have no idea which is which!!
Wow, those are a really great knock-off! I like the Target pair better - the toe is less boxy.
I LOVE great deals!!! You totally cannot tell which is which!!!
Yikes! Hard to tell but if I'd have to guess, I'd say the one on the right is the Tar-jay version?! Do tell us which is which!
I literally BOOKED it to Target in Somerville after reading this and snagged the last pair of size 8s. My roommate just saw them on me and went to grab the last 8.5s! AMAZING! Thanks for the heads up! (Target should pay you, hehe)
I would absolutely swear the Target boots were the more expensive ones. They look great. I was at Target today but didn't know to look. I bought a pair of Frye boots last year and find them difficult to walk. MB
J'adore Tarjay:-) They keep getting better and better. Their clothing line is JCrew Inspired and their shoes and bags are great - especially for trendy items that are good for one season. Enjoy ladies!
PS - I almost bought the Frye boots on eBay this weekend. I also tried them on at Nordstrom and they were too heavy and clunky - these are a great alternative.
The website is out of stock, period. I'll be calling two local targets tomorrow!
So funny to read this post, as I had the same dream/reality experience with this style Frye—they seem like a good idea, but are really clunky! I may just hope over to Target and try out the suggestion...thanks! (although, I am still holding out for the Paige's I want ;)
Thanks for sharing the tip. I ran to two different Targets tonight trying to find my size. Thankfully the second store had one 6.5 left! Love them!
I have to say at first glance, well truthfully, two glances, I couldn't tell -- but the real Fryes must be the ones on the right. Target did do a very good knockoff! Nice find! However, despite Fryes being indeed clunky, they last a long, long time. Let us know how the Target wear. Enjoy!
On my way first thing in the AM - yah for Tar-jay!
I gotta say, I bought a pair of frye's last fall and while I absolutely love them (for the price tag I have to, haha), the break-in process was awful!! It took a solid month of pain for them to finally get comfortable and adjust to my feet (TIP: use rubbing alcohol on the leather in tight areas!)...
Anyways, I happened into Target last week and while I didn't get these (saw them but they were too close to my frye's), I did pick up a pair of grey faux-suede slouchy boots and black riding boots (look way better on than on site) and the break-in period = 0. I put them on and wore each painlessly (and my wallet survived).
I <3 TARGET!
Wow! Those look just like the Fryes. Can't tell which is which. I've had my eye on these boots for at least a year or 2 now. Off to Target to see if I can find the cheaper version! Thanks for sharing this amazing find!
Target, are you reading this? You should be paying me! :)
These are great!! Thanks for sharing, definitely heading to Target. Would love to see the outfits you pair them with...you have great style! Thanks!
Yes Target really should pay you... I went to two targets and scored a pair at the second one I went to. Northern Virginians, if you wear size 7.5 and above, go to the Sterling Target at Potomac Run Plaza! They have pretty good selection of those sizes, but only 1 left in each size!
Thanks, Erin! I had to buy them 1/2 size larger than I normally take since they were out of my size, but they feel great!! I was coveting the Frye's in your first post, and this one made my day!!!
Thanks, Erin! I've been wanting a pair of Fryes for awhile.I went to two Targets and finally snagged the last pair in my size. The first store was out of EVERY SINGLE PAIR!
Now what to wear with them? Would you have time to put together a look or two? Pretty please?
I had to go to 4 different Target stores but I finally found a pair! I love them, thanks for the tip!!
Wow! Thanks for the heads up. I went after work today and snagged what I think was the last pair period...just happened to be my size. Fate? :)
I'd love to see a "Fashion Friday" with these as the inspiration!
Erin-
Can you do a fashion friday on how to wear these boots?
Do they look best under jeans, over jeans, with leggings?
I need an outfit inspiration to go with them!!!!!!
You know you're a fashion genius, right?
Tried these on today (my friend picked up the last pair at our local Tarjay today, they're sold out online!) and they were super comfy!!!
will hit up target on my lunch break!! thanks for the incredible find!
I was checking these out at Target yesterday. They are great!!!
Unfortunately, I had already purchased the expensive brand, and worn, worn, worn, them. ;(
Anyone looking for boots should definately check out Target they have some awesome styles and unbelieveable prices for boots.
