What I'm Loving: eBay Side Tables

These gilded bamboo side tables on eBay are the business, people. If I had an extra $300 and a need for side tables in my home I'd totally bid the crap outta theses.

This Is How Much I Love You.

Pictures via Domino

This find is so good I almost pondered keeping it to myself. But alas, I could not possibly keep any good find from my dear readers. As you may have seen on various blogs, in magazines and on the beds of many decorators- the embroidered Otomi bedspread is HOT right now. I absolutely love them instead of the omni-present (but still gorgeous) Suzani. The only source I had found until now was Jacaranda, which sells the larger bedspread size for $395.
God bless eBay.
Mexican Textiles Museum Store has them for $250 or best offer (get your haggle on).
I want one for my guest room SO BADLY.

One More Project Completed

Walking into my office and finally being greeted by my "mantra" for daily living made me smile this morning. There is no more appropriate phrase for me to repeat every day than this old British wartime poster's. I scored a old, carved gold wood frame on eBay for $40 and lacquered it myself with the amazing 1-Shot. It reminds me VERY much of this Brocade frame that is being sold for $500! It's quite satisfying to stretch my crafty muscles on projects like these!

A Rainy eBay Morning

It's all doom and gloom here in Beantown this morning. But sometimes that's nice. It gives me a complete excuse to spend insane amounts of time trolling eBay! Here are some goodies I found this morning by searching "Hollywood Regency".
These chairs are amazing. Picture them with the seat reupholstered in a bold color or graphic black and white print.

And this Dorothy Draper style chest has such a gorgeous pattern carved on the front. I admire how unique, but modern it is!

These end tables have a chinese chippendale flair, but look very Jonathan Adler-esque to me!

And don't ANYONE dare bid on this amazing chair, because I am pretty sure it'll be mine if the eBay gods allow it. Look at the delicious nail head work and the amazing detail at the bottom of the seat!!! Reupholstered in something like KWID's Imperial trellis would make this a show stopper!! And it's $49 right now!

Happy Friday (and happy eBaying) to all!

To Die For

TS and Company strikes again! I wish I needed dining chairs because these are SPECTACULAR!!! If anyone needs dining chairs and loves these as much as I do....GET THEM! $.9.99 each right now- shipping will be expensive but it will be worth it. Recovered with fabulous fabric you could resell them for $200 a chair if you wanted.
I need to have my own store where I can redo these things anad sell them!
That's what I want for Christmas! Commercial space!!!

Shhh, it's our little secret

I actually thought of NOT posting about this eBay seller because I didn't want the prices to get driven up on the fantastic items they have listed- that's how good of a find this is!!! But I adore my readers and could never deny you all an amazing bargain. This comes courtesy of Nuala, Elements of Style's official cheerleader, and the lucky girl already won a fantastic faux bamboo small dresser.
I shall warn you to CHECK THE SHIPPING COSTS. They are kind of steep, but getting a fab chair for $20 plus shipping of $100- still an awesome deal!
This bamboo dresser is amazing and I think it's running at about $30 right now. Imagine it with more modern pulls. And the faux bamboo bar cart?? Such Hollywood Regency glam!!!

This chair below is what I want, I love the circles along the top and the retro-fab caning! I would paint it a glossy color- or perhaps just white- and get some great fabric- Kelly Wearstler-esque- to reupholster! I think it's about $15 right now!!!

This pair of chairs is so great- the lines are so romantic but modern. Again, imagine them painted with new fabrics. Swoon!!! And the dining chairs below are so fun and don't even NEED painting! The distressed white finish is already wonderful. I bet you can just pop those seat cushions out and staple gun new fabric over them! Someone better snatch these up fast!!!!

I am signing off for the holidays now- time to focus on my gift guides! I hope to have them up next week after some much needed down time in Connecticut with the fam! Happy Turkey Day to everyone!!!

eBay Finery: House of Thailand

I was trying to google for sources for ikat pillows (all the rage-perhaps overdone...hmmm) and I found this eBay shop, House of Thailand, with some really amazing finds! These uniquely shaped long bolster pillows are about $30 and handwoven in a stunning pattern. My wallet is infinetley happier! It would look fabulous on a bed, daybed or couch!
This bold striped rug is also about $30 (AMAZING) and is perfect for any room. Bold, cotton weave rugs are VERY chic right now. And most of them run in the hundreds to thousands of dollars!
They even have bright, fun handbags...

Oh, and they DO also have ikat fabrics...but I now am distracted.

Ebay Art

I have been wary of purchasing things off eBay ever since an experience a few years back of shelling out decent money for an authentic Gucci "Jackie O" bag, only to recieve a "Fucci" Jackie O bag made entirely of plastic and faux leather. But I have been poking around lately (mostly looking for antique chinese chippendale dining chairs that apparently do not exist) and have been amazed at the selection of wonderfully talented artists using this modern day flea market to sell their works. Today I absolutely fell head over heels for Neil and Karen Hollingsworth, a couple from Atlanta whose talents are awe inspiring to a frustrated painter like myself.

I am eagerly creating my new Pay Pal account to be able to bid on Neil's espresso cup painting for my kitchen....so even though I gave out this tip, no one try to outbid me! But do sign onto eBay and search through the gems they have available for cheap! Real artwork is so much better than a framed poster you still have up from your college dorm room.
