Rendered Breathless and Inspired...

Wow.
I practically trembling over the excitement I feel after just finishing looking at what is going to be my new #1 source of inspiration. No longer will I need to feel the exquisite pangs of sadness when Domino no longer arrives in my mailbox, because Lonny Magazine, the online brainchild of Michelle Green (of the fabric company Rubie Green) and Patrick Cline has launched and they have outdone themselves on so many levels.  Not only are the styles and editorial concepts pure genius and very Domino-esque, the ability to "flip through pages"  and click on an item you see featured and be brought right to the website for purchase is a dream. They have a rocketing success on their hands and I'm in awe of their hard work and drive to make something so beautiful for the public to enjoy. I bow down to you this morning, Michelle and Patrick. I hope you are off celebrating in a really huge way!
Now, to get myself involved somehow.... :)
Just check out some of the images from the first issue of Lonny and try not to spend an entire hour devouring it like I just did.

All photos by Patrick Cline, who is clearly, a genius.

Boston Magazine's Concept Home at FP3

There are a lot of exciting and dynamic places to live in Boston- the bustling and luxurious Back Bay, the European feeling South End, gritty turned glam Southie or green and funky Jamaica Plain. But the hottest new area to be developed is Fort Point Channel. Bridging the financial district and the waterfront, this industrialized area has condo and apartment buildings popping up left and right- but none as heralded as FP3. Designed by the prolific and oft-published Hacin+ Associates, this new condo building offers up sleek modern space in the heart of this exciting "new" area of Boston. And just to show it off a bit more, they have teamed up with Boston Magazine to design a concept home in one of the penthouses with some of Boston's best home design vendors. And here is a sneak peek into the space! Be sure to check out the Concept Home site for lists of events that will be coming up in the penthouse! Who wouldn't want to attend a party here?

The building:

The kitchen, featuring a very unique raw edge stone backsplash.

Dining area combining the detail of a traditionally styled chandelier with modern wall treatment and dining furniture.

Living area and stairs.

Master bedroom, complete with my new obsession, black walls (which look open and not imposing when paired ith the huge windows).

Master bathrrom complete with drool-worthy bubble chandelier.

The boys room (starring the cutest little Schnauzer! Does he come with the penthouse?)

The patio off the boys room featuring a cool window graphic for privacy.

An 8 track themed bathroom!

The HUGE terrace (I've seen it in person and it is HUUUUUUGE) makes any city dweller sigh in awe- I can easily imagine a lovely early fall evening evening with friends and lots of wine out there!

On the main floor of the building world renowned chef Barbara Lynch has opened two incredible spaces well worth checking out. Sportello is a modern, high-style "diner" featuring amazing dishes like a grown up version of grilled cheese and tomato soup (I've had it, amazing). There's a little market for gourmet goodies and a dessert counter as well!

Below street level is Barbara's speakeasy style bar, aptly named Drink. I fell madly in love for this bar when I went not only for the design (not a bottle in sight, all kept below the amazing bar), but also because the bartenders whip up unique concotions based on what flavors and liquors you tell them you like. I have no idea what i had, but it was toe-curlingly delicious. Did I mention they serve the drinks in vintage glassware? Yeah, that'll make anything taste even better in my opinion!

(P.S. I die over the logo. DIE.)

When do my moving trucks arrive?

The Unequivocal Domino Replacement

It's gonna cost you, but it's so worth it. At $5.95 an issue in the US, Canadian House & Home is a bit pricier than most magazines (not quite as pricey as my other international favorite, living, etc. though). I've written about how awesome they are before, but the issue I picked up yesterday made me 100% confident is declaring this the official Domino replacement. Now, it does suck that some of the sources are only in Canada, but for inspirational purposes, there isn't anything that comes closer to the DIY/high-low/creative and bold vibe that Domino gave us all. Just look at this spread of Style Director Michel Penney's apartment- a total "on a budget" masterpiece!

This looks straight out of a Wes Anderson film:

Loving the turquoise/green/chocolate combo:

Yet again, I spy my french opaline glasses in the painted built in:

The kitchen slays me- he papered one wall in a bold, expensive paper, put grasscloth in the backs of the cabinets (he took the doors off) and added a buffet from Craigslist (quite a score) and vintage 70's light fixture. And that window- yes, please.

Michael got this bold stripe wallpaper in the bedroom at Home Depot! I love it paired with a headboard made from old doors and the fussier lamp.

He said his bathroom scheme was an homage to Kate Spade.
Seriously, this guy's wife is pretty lucky! :)

I could have scanned like 30 other pictures from this issue alone! It's truly genius and so accessible for those of us on a budget, yet totally inspiring visually for any price point!
