Who Needs a Prenup When You Have This Bathroom?

After a couple years sharing a small bathroom, one thing Andrew and I really enjoy about our new place is two full bathrooms. Equally nice, we each took one- but sometimes I wish we just had one big one with separate spaces in it so we can chit chat while getting ready. Traditional Home's Robert Young solved that problem at the 2007 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show with this his and hers bathroom. If you can tear your eyes away from the Erin Adams tile mural, you'll see that off the main bathing space are two smaller spaces, each designated and designed for a man and woman. I love how they relate but each give such a different feel.

I love how the "x" detail of the transom windows is reflected in the cabinetry in the woman's bath

Love the framed chinoiserie paper on the opposite wall of the mural, leading into the man's bath

Oh yeah, Andrew would dig this. What man wouldn't?

So while perusing Velvet & Linen last night I came across another pair of baths in one of Brooke Gianetti's projects- each with a distinct chromosome-specific feel.
This man's bath really feels "Ralph Lauren-y" to me, with it's grey flannel walls and drapery.

Another bath in the same house with a more feminine feel...LOVE those freestanding tubs!

In this same house (hi, can I please live here?) she created yet another perfect man space in the basement- a lovely den (not TOO manly at all) with a very cool bar... I would never see Andrew again, especially if there was a pool/foosball table down there.

But it's ok, b/c I'd be soaking with a glass (i.e. bottle) of wine in a bathroom like Brooke's own (*sigh*)- overlooking trees and feeling a breeze through the plethora of windows....

My favorite is Brooke's bathroom. I always love a light and airy bathroom.

I like to share a bathroom with my husband, though - when we are getting ready in the morning and/or getting ready for bed in the evening, it is a nice place to chat! I also have a very very tidy husband, which helps make the bathroom very orderly.

While I positively love the decor and overall beauty of these bathrooms, I have one issue (from personal experience). With the tub in a rather large space, I find I get really really cold! The steam for the tub dissipates into the room, and whatever body part isn't underwater gets very cold.

My friend had a similar set up, with a shower head coming out of the wall with no really enclosure. It was a very modern bathroom and it looked very hip. My friend always, however was freezing, and ended up taking showers in the guest room.

I love the den! It is just perfect, not too manly, as a matter of fact, the whole family can enjoy it. I might save this photo for my future basement redo.

I love these freestanding tubs too - they are absolutely gorgeous.

Erin,

Each morning when I come in to work, I get my coffee and check out my favorite websites to get my day started. Yours being one of them!

I recently moved in with my boyfriend to a pre-war two bedroom apartment in Harlem, NYC. Your blog provides such inspiration and help. A lot of great ideas that we have used in our new space!

Bathrooms like this would be grounds for a happy marriage indeed. It's my dream to remodel or bathrooms. I hope my my teens are gone for college.

This is my favorite post you have done. That bathroom is absolutely unreal.

Absolutely stunning.

We have a shared bathroom with his and hers spaces (on a slightly less grand scale!) and do love chatting together while we get ready.

The tubs are my absolute favorite part. And the tile work. Amazing.

I love the bathrooms...but I really love that den. That bar with the brick work is fantastic! This is totally my style. I too would like to live there.

Yes, we have 2 bathrooms too, but I split time between them. We both shower in the master bath, but then I leave to the "cooler" bathroom to blow-dry my hair and sometimes put on my makeup. There's nothing worse than sweating while putting on makeup!

All of these pictures are wonderful! But I love the bar!!

it gets increasingly difficult for me continue to be patient and wait to buy a house when I look at amazing interiors and gorgeous houses.

The den is cozy and inviting. Who wouldn't want to spend movie night here?

I've got to say the baths are lost on me. The whole look is overdone and the monstrous proportions just make the rooms unwelcoming.
