Some fantastic quotes from the original interior decorator, the unmatchable Dorothy Draper. I like her wit and way of thinking and feel like these are some good quotes to not only live by, but decorate by.
"Have you ever stopped to think what fun this business of living can be? If you haven't, and if you are one of those who insist upon believing that life is humdrum, grim and boring, then I'm afraid this department is not for you. For I don't believe any such thing. I know that we can all free ourselves and live our lives fully, zestfully and joyfully! "
"There seems to be within all of us an innate yearning to be lifted momentarily out of our own lives into the realm of charm and make believe. "
"Never look back, except for an occasional glance, look ahead and plan for the future. Success is not built on past laurels, but rather on a continuous activity. Keep busy searching out new ideas and, experimentally, keep ahead of the times, or at least up with them. "
Hallelujah,Dorothy. Hallelujah.

I digress...

This post has nothing to do with the curve of an armchair, weave of a rug or the perfect centerpiece...but I just feel like posting some of my favorite inspirational quotes because it's just one of those days. Mother Nature seems to be ignoring the memo that it is springtime, and so the cold, gloomy days of the Northeast spur me to try to make light of this frigid nonsense. And since I am a complete quote addict, it pleases me to do so. Happy Wednesday.
"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly." -Buddha
"If you are going through hell, just keep going" -Winston Churchill
"Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should..." - Max Ehrmann
"Finish each day and be done with it. you have done what you could. some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. tomorrow is a new day. you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Happiness consists in realizing it is all a great strange dream." - Jack Kerouac
"I beg you to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. do not search fo rthe answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. and the point is, to live everything. live the questions now. perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer." -Rilke
"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... do the thing you think you cannot do." -Eleanor Roosevelt
