I Die: Coco Chanel's Apartment

(Coco in her apartment)

Did any of you watch Rachel Zoe Project last night?  I forgot it was on until my friend Marie texted me- "I hope you are watching Rachel Zoe- she's in Chanel's apartment!!!!" I almost fell off the couch and killed myself when I changed the channel and saw Rachel touring the queen of couture's apartment on the famous Rue Cambon! When I was in Paris I did manage to get the guts up to go into the Chanel boutique in this location (very intimidating, especially when you are wearing jeans and look like a red-eye-flying hot mess) but did not realize THIS was right above.
While my decorating tastes veer far from this kind of ornate luxury, there is a little part of me that loves it and wishes I could lounge on that deep velvet sofa surrounded by gold and crystal and laqcuered chinoiserie panels and dream up my next collection.... don't you agree?

Did I mention I was excited to see the new movie about Coco starring Audrey Tatou? She already looks the part in this shot from Vanity Fair! :)

P.S. The whole show made me LONG for my darling Paris- and wish I had someone like Rachel with me to force me to have made some purchases like way she did the whole "Jedi Stylist Mind Trick" on Brad and that leather trench!

Show to Watch: Man Shops Globe

While watching Under the Tuscan Sun last night on TV (and lamenting the fact that I do not have the funds nor guts to up and move to an antique farmhouse in Tuscany), I saw a preview for a very exciting new show I thought you guys might love! Man Shops Globe premiers October 7th on Sundance Channel and follows Keith Johnson, buyer-at-large for Anthropologie, as he shops for unique finds around the world!  Keith professes that he has "the best job in the world" and I would have to agree! The first episode will be following Keith as he shops in PARIS. Oh, I might melt into a puddle of jealously on the spot!

This made me want to check out what goodies are in stock right now at Anthro:

Back from Brimfield

I (Marni from StyleCarrot - Erin's still in Paris), did a whirlwind tour of Brimfield yesterday. Oddly, I didn't buy a thing. Not that I was on the lookout for anything in particular, but nothing caught my eye. I came across a lot of the same vendors (and in some cases, the same items) that I discovered when I went the first time back in May. I would have picked up some more stray antlers, but alas, those I did not find. Here's an array of what I saw. You can check out today's post on my blog for more pictures, or this post for specific vendors if you're planning a visit.

Scandinavian style: raw muslin covered furniture.

Glass handles aplenty.

Hunks of wood. Tres trendy.

Carousel horse.
Burlap sack chic.

Empire era for kids.

Loose type speaks out.

Would be perfect framed in a nursery.

A huge statement piece.

Such rich colors on these vintage advertising prints.

Bamboo bed.

A sorta scary skull.

In With the Old AND the New!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I hate to report that Brimfield was such a disappointment this year- truly a sea of mostly knick knacks and much less cool furniture than last year. There were some redeeming items (lots of vintage jewelry- my friend Amanda got the coolest antique brooch), and it's always fun to go, but it seems that poerhaps even the economy has hurt antique dealers. I am going to try to go in September, since I think that might be the better show. Anyways a few snaps:

This booth had some great stuff- but a lot of it looked reproduction:

I did love the pair of ceramic dogs though- I just don't need another pair of ceramic ANYTHING!

Jadeite collection:

These industrial bins would look great in a bookshelf or in a kitchen as storage:

A lovely mirror made from old tin ceilings and a bunch of old glass medical cabinets

Grouping of old silverware- these were lovely and having a mismatched set would be so fabulous paired with some sleek, simple china:

This big pig painting would look great above a sofa in a country house;

I adored this twin headboard's unique design, as well as this gorgeous lantern with colver shaped ring accent:

But the best part of the weekend was getting to meet (and imbibe) with Seleta Howard from Simply Seleta and her husband! What a gorgeous, talented, lovely woman (and am so jealous she got to spend the weekend at Eddie Ross' country home)! Yet another reason why blogging has enriched my life so much!
