Yesterday was amazing- I feel so blessed not only to be given the opportunity to have my home published, but also to work with the insanely talented and kind Eric Roth. His 30 years spent behind the lens shooting spaces from the grandest summer homes to the smallest Irish pubs have refined his eye and yet he remains excited and modest. Amazing. Just look through his portfolio and you'll be truly in awe! He's shot some of my favorite spaces in Boston and beyond- here's a taste!











Baxter was a supermodel- like, straight up Kate Moss in a dog suit. He was looking right at the camera and posing his little heart out. I hope he makes into the issue! :) All night I was singing RuPaul's "Supermodel" to him- he looked at me with disgust, like a true catwalk diva....
Anyways, there were lots of questions in the comments section about different items in my space, so here we go with the answers and links!
My bedding- I bow down to Target- my new grey and white duvet cover is from their Fieldcrest luxury line, as are the deep grey sheets! The white coverlet is from Bed, Bath and Beyond and the monogrammed shams are from Pottery Barn and are OLD (registry items from our wedding). The two ikat dot throw pillows were gifted to me by the wonderful Fabricadabra (go now, embrace your love of ikat!)
Rugs-The rug in my kitchen was $13 from IKEA- it's a cotton rag rug so a very good rug pad would be needed.
I almost cried last night when I rolled up the living room loaner rug from Landry & Arcari. It is such a gorgeous persian carpet (not typically a style I love) in such faded, perfect neutrals I thought it could not have gone better with the furniture and room. Someday....
Wallpaper- The wallpaper in the back of my cabinets is by Jonathan Adler. Yummy.
Tables- My coffee table is the reclaimed wood Seguro by Crate & Barrel. Love it. The "tulip" table is not really what it appears to be- it's the $25 Target version (not on the site any longer). Very cheap feeling, but visually it does the job until I can buy the real deal!
Lighting- As we all know now, I went with the PB Ashland tripod lamp in the living room and love it! The foyer light is by Quiozel, the dining room light is from West Elm and the bedroom chandelier is a $99 crystal piece from GreatChandeliers.com. To answer the questions- putting it together was not easy, but WELL worth it- the quality is great for the price!!!
Book cases- Sapien shelving from Design Within Reach. These were well worth it- I think they'll be coveted design classics someday.

OK, off to catch up on my e-mails and work- so glad this is over so i can get back to working on some great projects!

So here are a few quick, poorly lit snaps of my house as it is pre-photo shoot for the Boston Globe Magazine. I have two and a half hours to mop the floors. get myself ready and make sure everything is looking sharp. I am EXHAUSTED. I hope you like it.






Oh, and a new little piece of art I whipped up- a silhouette of Baxter on a grassy tear sheet from the DWR catalog! :)

** So the shoot is delayed another hour (snow) so I took some more daytime images while I wait (and try to not sit on any thing and mess it up)

I use my own home as kind of a "lab" for my ideas. Currently, I'm craving dark kelly green walls paired with crisp whites and dark chocolate- so I'm re-doing my office. I painted my office dusty light violet when it was the hottest color imaginable. I now hate it. So off I go to re-paint my office for the new year.
Green has always been one of my favorite colors (as I write that, all I can think about is that toast in Wedding Crashers..."she's always loved the color green, like the color of Craig's eyes...and money")...I digress. So, I'm trying to find the perfect green- not too yellow, not too blue, dark but not DARK. According to the color therapy schoolof thought, green is great for calming, creativity, mental refreshing and love. All good things. Here are some of my inspirational images.


The items I already have in my office are the West Elm zebra rug, white topped IKEA desk, White IKEA Expedit bookshelves and white laqcuered baroque frame.
So I need a desk chair and a new print for the frame. Some chair options I'm considering:

I found a cheaper version ($249) of the Louis Ghost chair. I LOVE this chair and it would handle my lucite craving....but is it comfortable enough? I could add a seat cushion in a great fabric- but is this just fashion over function? Or maybe the $99 Tobias chair by IKEA- similar feel but perhaps more comfortable, and a lot less money?

A knockoff of the Eames Management chair by Chiasso or this simpler version by CB2. I love the look of these chairs but I'm not sure if I want wheels on my chair...and white leather could get crazy dirty (I eat breakfast and lunch at my desk and am NOT the tidiest of people...)

Perhaps an eBay find upholstered in a great fabric like Celerie Kemble's Hothouse Flowers?
