Mooo....

I hope you all had a lovely weekend filled with chocolates and flowers and big smooches. I was taken out to a lovely dinner by my hubby at Mooo, a steakhouse in the posh XV Beacon hotel in Beacon Hill. We were a bit skeptical since what used to be in Mooo's place was an amazing restaraunt called The Federalist- we had one of the most spectacular dining experiences there many years ago and I loved the decor SO much! But Mooo really held it's own (despite the giggle inducing name). The decor was sleek and calming and the service impeccable. Oh, and they served up the best rolls I've ever tasted which made me way too full for my entree (which included a steak and parmesean white truffle oil fries) and forced me to skip dessert! On Valentines day! The horror! Anyways here are some images:

Of course when I sat down I immediately took note of all the trimmings and was pleasantly shocked to see my favorite Match pewter trimmed plates! I love this place setting and kind of wish it had been on my registry when I got married instead of delicate fine china. Not to mention, they were sitting atop beige Chilewich place mats and set with my FAVE wine glasses by Schott! A perfect table setting!!!

Some images of the hotel itself- a great modern take on the old school Boston Brahmin look:

And in a sweet gesture, the hubby gave me one of the Dogeard necklaces I posted about a ways back, proving that he DOES read my blog and take note! :)

Registry Worthy China

Some yummy china place settings for those brides to be out there!

These patterns by J. Chew (yep, CHEW not CREW) are fabulously fanciful yet simple. I'd love to mix the two patterns to create a really lovely look.

When registering for my china I coveted the Etoile pattern by Bernadaud below left. I hemmed and hawed and finally thought it would be something I might tire of. I was WRONG! I still love it! Nerds! Also love the Constance pattern too- I do believe that was Charlotte York's china!

For something a bit more fanciful, try the Mega pattern by Royal Copenhagen or Pompano Point by Kate Spade

Simple platinum rimmed china is something that will never go out of style: I chose Vera Wang for Wedgewood's Grosgrain, but Barbara Barry's Emrace is pretty great too!

I will not be posting tomorrow as I am gone all day in a meeting- but will post on Saturday to make up for a missed Fashion Friday!
Happy Weekend!

Hermes vs. Target

I spotted these dishes at Target this weekend and they reminded me very much of the red Balcons Du Guadalquivir Hermes dinnerware I've been loving for a while...
TARGET- (left) 16 piece set for $49.99.
HERMES-(right) Five piece place setting for $430.00

Thanksgiving...

I never posted any pics from our Thanksgiving- it was very mellow but delicious.

The dining room set and ready for food-chairs and covers by Ballard Designs, light fixture from WS Home, silver is family heirloom, as is the black and white floral china. The other black and white china my parents bought on their honeymoon in Bermuda!

The pups awaiting turkey scraps as Andrew cleans up, and the lucite cube bugs my mom got at Hudson that I covet!

Chinois for Your Table

We all seem to love Chinese Chippendale dining chairs- from Jonathan Adler (who started the hot trend with his bright lacquered versions to my side of the road finds. Now you can add some of that same design flair to your tabletop with Lunt Silversmith's new flatware! Made of stainless steel but with the elegant look of formal silver it adds panache to your place settings without the hefty price tag and annoying polishing of actual silver.

Goodbye Summer...

Am loving the idea of a :goodbye summer"dinner table set with Kate Spade's new Laurel Canyon china and Crate and Barrels gold Meret flatware to compliment the gold banding on the plates! Fuschia linen napkins and gold napkin rings and a magenta peony centerpiece to finish it off...

Fashion Friday: Dress Up Your Table

How awesome are these china pieces by Hannah Morrow? Combining her love of fashion and jewelry with her obvious skill is crafting bone china, she creates such a cool product. I am just hoping she'll make this in a mug- I'd love to drink my coffee from this chic pattern!

Preppy, Pretty Plates

You all know my obsession with Bongenre's melamine plates. Well now I have a new melamine plate designer to obsess over- Fontaine Maury! The preppy, retro inspired designs (complete with personalization) remind me a bit of iomoi, and would make a killer wedding gift or even a baby gift (get one plate with the baby's name on it with a set of cool feeding utensils!)
Perfect for outdoor dinging this summer!

Oh to be in Marrakesh...

Inspiried by my cousin-in-law Courtney's current excursion to Morocco, I went in search of all things Moroccan for a themed dinner party and came up with a virtual treasure chest of awe inspiring goods, so be prepared for a long post! I am flabbergasted at the pricing of such beautiful goods!

This is basically a collage of all the amazing things I found on these four sites:
and the cool cork votives from my new favorite party site www.plumparties.com
All of these items are beyond affordable....a inlaid tile dining set for under $600? Set of 6 jewel like tea glasses (for drinks and as votive holders) for under $40? I am literally jumping out of my chair in excitement over these finds! I can imagine a fantastic dinner party using all these wonderful things on my soon-to-be romantic brick outdoor patio (condo sold, looking for such a place now!)
Moroccan lanterns, when lit, give off amazing light and create beautiful patterns on surrounding surfaces eliminating the need for excess wall decor. Combine those with tealights, brightly colored linens, plates, glasses and lots of embroidered pillows and instantly you would have a charming cocktail infused environment on a warm summer night!
I am eagerly anticipting Courtney's return to the states to see what kind am miraculous findings she has coming back to her shop!
