Glow On...

I fo' sho' have a candle addiction. I happily have spent $60 on a small candle just because the smell makes me swoon (and likely the packaging as well a la D.L. & Co. candles). Black & Light is a new candle company producing a darn cool product. Started by a former school teacher, these candles have a lot of special features. Printed with unique designs, they have an uncanny ability to glow from base to tip like a lantern- I've seen it and it's so lovely! Additionally, they are packaged in a gorgeous gift box (with a removable logo label for re-using to give other gifts) and come with a little box of matches (am such a sucker for that).

E of S readers can use the code ZAP120 to get 10% off plus free shipping!

When you buy a bee candle (they remind me of the Restoration hardware bee bedding) a portion of the proceeds goes to the University of California- Davis' research program to save the honeybees!

I loooove the dramatic silhouette of this one (and have it in my home now!)

These remind me a bit of Mexican otomi throws!

Classic whites with texture or words:

Whimsical prints (love the lobsters for a housewarming gift for a seaside visit!)

All aglow and in their ADORABLY sleek packaging....

A Great Gift for Summer Weddings!

I've got weddings on the brain since there are so many during these summer/fall months! When shopping for gifts I always want to get something "cool" and unique. Here's a gift that shows thought and is not an expected "registry" item- personalized melamine plates from La Plates in modern, graphic prints complete with the couple's new monogram. I am adoring so many of these patterns, and at $22 each, you could get a pair or four for summertime newlyweds to use for casual dining! Also a great gift for a new mother with her baby's monogram on one paired with a sweet set of utensils or a sippy cup!

Rosanna, Rosanna (sing along with me...)

I picked up the new O at Home magazine yesterday while at CVS (why can't I make it out of CVS for less that $40?) and was downright shocked at how amazingly fabulous it is! I have about 20 different pages folded down with notes! Oprah strikes again-or rather the new editor Sarah Gray Miller! One of the articles was about a entrepreneurial woman, Rosanna Bowles, who started her dish ware line, Rosanna, Inc. many years ago. I am sure you've seen the mini hat-boxed collection of decorative plates in various stores. After reading the intriguing story behind her company, I decided to check out her site. I was delighted to find some really modern, wonderful collections that would make great instant mantle-scapes or gifts!

A Victory for the Preppy.

I am loving these amazingly modern yet preppy bags and make-up cases from Liz Victory Designs! I especially love the tote and matching beach towel! What a great bridal shower gift for the newlywed headed to a warm beachy honeymoon somewhere. Order online at Perwinkle to add monograms as seen here!

I simply had to post this cashmere cardi I saw on Periwinkle's site that is available for pre-order for fall. It's pricey ($395), but would be the perfect fall staple!!! I love it!

Preppy, Pretty Plates

You all know my obsession with Bongenre's melamine plates. Well now I have a new melamine plate designer to obsess over- Fontaine Maury! The preppy, retro inspired designs (complete with personalization) remind me a bit of iomoi, and would make a killer wedding gift or even a baby gift (get one plate with the baby's name on it with a set of cool feeding utensils!)
Perfect for outdoor dinging this summer!

Fringe Benefits

Fringe Studio creates glass vases layered with images and lettering, reminiscent of John Derian's decoupage work. Filled with a single color and type of bloom (think just one color tulips) these would make a great little surprise for Mother's Day- but would also add a little unexpected punch to any area of your home. Boring vases, be gone! You can find them at Heliotrope and Wrappables online (amongst others) and in Boston at Shake the Tree (I so need to go here, but the North End is such a pain!)

A Unique Gift for Mom

(shown unpersonalized above)

This serves as a reminder: Mother's Day is fast approaching! For those of you who typically become frantic when you mosey past the Hallmark section of CVS and see that Mother's Day is that day- you can thank me later. :)
I saw this item a while back, but never had the right time to post it. Jack and Lulu, one of my favorite stationery companies, makes monogrammed lucite recipe boxes that are simply to die for! Now, your mom doesn't need to be all June Cleaver to appreciate this gift, I for one would love one and am certainly no chef/super homemaker. It's a great way to organize those inspirational recipe's you undoubtedly rip out of magazines (and never make) while adding a little "oomph" of style to your counter top. Plus, anything personalized shows that you went that little extra mile. Always good to get extra brownie points (ha) with mom!

(Notice that even the cards themselves are monogrammed!)

Frame Your Jewels

A fab little find on the Etsy site, perfect as a gift or just to adorn your dresser AND organize your earring collection! Display your array of jewels in this fantastic creation while also keeping them at your fingertips and in pairs. I for one, have so many single earrings and missing backs and this could be such a cheeky way to keep everything in it's place!
