Home Heist

While surfing around for images of craftsman bungalow homes (my dream home style), I came upon the HGTV Canada site (what is it with me and Canadian design these days?). They have a show called Colin and Justin's House Heist and I spent a good hour going through the before and after galleries...amazing stuff! Colin and Justin are UK designers (who have been together 20 years) who travel between the UK and Canada taping various design shows- these guys are TALENTED.

This kitchen went from blah and cluttered to jaw dropping with it's tin ceiling and walk out patio:

This house received QUITE the overhaul:
Bedroom:

Dinging Area:

Living Room:

This dining are went from mirrored and DISGUSTING to sleek and bright:

Some more "after" images for inspiration- and don't blame me if you get sucked into the site and waste an hour of your day! :)

I also love that first kitchen. It made me happy to see some reminders of rooms that they've done that I've liked, because I have often felt that some of their makeovers have been fully of cheesy trends, rather than timeless style. I think you found some of the treasures. Those two are are a riot on tv.

Those rooms are AH-MAZ-ING. Exactly my style. I think I cut and paste about 10 of the pics into my inspiration folder. Thanks for the great find!

Amazing. This why I adore you! You are always find these great new sites full of inspiration. Those rooms are beyond beautiful. It makes me want to re-do every room in my house and I was just starting to finally finish up. I saved this site so that I can lose myself in it when I get home from work.

boy,
this post is a great educational tool for any potential design client.
especially the ones that have never experienced design in their lives 1st hand.

no doubt about it, int. design is a real art form.

love this post , obviously !

this is awesome! My hub and I are buying a home with lots of reno work ahead of us...that first kitchen is very doable.

It's my first house. Sites like yours have been a total boon to me! Thanks for what you do! It's really helpful!

I love craftsman bungalows too! There are actually a few tolerable bungalows around the Pomfret area. (And my most favorite modern house is hidden in Putnam..)

But those "before" pictures are panic inducing! My nightmare. Great post!

Before's and After's certainly are the most fun to see but I notice that most high-end designers never do the 'before's on their sites so this is fun to see.

Chelsea- where is your most favorite house in Putnam? I must stalk it!

You warned me, but I really didn't think I'd spend ALL night gawking at the pictures!! Too bad HGTV in the US doesn't have such amazing pics :( And what's all this talk about Pomfret and Putnam?! I'm from Thompson and stalk houses daily...do share the goodies :)

The wonderful modern house in Putnam is tucked away on what I call Putnam hill. (ha).
It's near Kelly's Tire and that baseball field. I'll have to find the proper street name. But just try to drive higher and higher up the hill and there it is tucked away among a nest of other houses.
White stucco, very square, a pool, small but fantastic.

I'll get the street name next time I am home!
