My dad did not like the way his driveway looked paved and so a couple weeks ago he had it "stoned"- tar put down and then stones poured over top. Unlike a loose stone driveway, all the little stones stay in place. I think it looks amazing, and figured it might be something some of you might consider for your own homes!

I agree ...amazing. I love the texture the little stones add.
Holy wow! Look how much softer the overall look is. Great job Dad!
Love it! Such a subtle change, but it makes the driveway look so much better. And I'm with you on the mini-cooper jealously!
It looks great! My aunt had that done and in Virginia they call it "tar and chip". Whatever the name, I think it looks really good!
My ride made your blog! I'm honored.
so much better than slabs of concrete!
I totally need a driveway makeover - but it needs to be snowplow friendly - do you know if this is...it has to be if your parents are in New England?
WOW! It looks so grand! I love it!
I LOVE this driveway! As a New England girl myself, I love this idea for those of us who need the service of a plow in the winter and dont want to replace the gravel every spring. I'm keeping this in my "for my future home" file.
I love your blog!!
Looks great!!!!! So much more welcoming.
The driveway is great but the mini is super cute.
On behalf of Erin... this new driveway is plow friendly. Of course there will be the loose stone here and there, but it is really well stuck down in tar. We probably will just put down a thin layer of new stone in the spring just to keep it fresh.
No credit for the photographer??
Fantastic~
Can a snow plow go over that surface without bringing up some of the stones?
I totally dig guys with mini coopers.
