One of my clients sent me this quote today and I ADORE it. Or as Jonathan Adler would say, I "j'adore it"!!!! Everyone take a collective breath and embrace this as your decorating mantra...
"Birds are so much wiser than we! A robin builds a nest for robins. A seagull builds a nest for seagulls. They don't copy each other - or build themselves nests as described in The Birds' Decorating Magazine."

I guess that means decorating is for the birds?!? JK - no that quote is soo true.
Perfect sentiment- people do need to live with what makes them happy and what works for them. At the end of the day, that is what truly matters!
I've had that book on my wish-list for a while, and it just moved one step closer to the top. Thanks!
sometimes it's really easy to get sucked into building a home that's not for you-- especially when you see such beautiful photos in design magazines, but it's just not right to place yourself in someone else's home (even just their decorating sense)! sometimes it's hard to remember that, but at the end of the day, your home isn't for impressing people or showing off, it's for feeling at home in... although of course those first two things are pretty nice too!
