This gorgeous historical mansion in our neighborhood, being painstakingly renovated by it's new owners, burnt down yesterday. They were almost finished with it and it was breathtakingly gorgeous. The roof collapsed and there was $2.5 million in damage.
Breaks my heart. All that work and love put into it and it's gone in a second. :(

where is this house? i used to live in brookline.
The house is on the corner of Eliot Street and Dane Street across from Jamaica Pond. It was part of the underground railroad and the owners were taking a very careful time restoring it to it's natural beauty. I just walked by with Baxter and it made me tear up- the roof is gone, along with the widows walk and cupola and all the windows are blown out. Just glad the family and pets got out! They said the only casualty was their son's fish named Little George. :(
